Coffee Brewing Instructions

Water Quality and Temperature

Start with freshly drawn ,filtered cold water and heat to correct temperature. The best temperature for brewing coffee is between 195F and 205F.

Measure Carefully

Making coffee is like following a recipe: the correct proportion of ingredients(in this case, coffee and water) is vital. We recommend using a 5 to 1 ratio (by volume NOT weight) of water to ground coffee-this is an approx measure that you can adjust to suit your customer needs.

So to brew:

½ gal ( 64oz ) you would use 12.5 to 13oz of ground coffee
1 gal ( 128 oz ) you would use 25.5 to 26oz of ground coffee

*you just need to be careful with the larger amounts since you will reach a point where the coffee brew cone(where filter is placed) will not accommodate any more grounds causing it to overflow and put grinds into the brewed coffee. If this happens look into getting a larger volume brew cone.

Grind Just Before Brewing

This will help insure the freshest coffee by waiting to release the flavors and aromas inside the coffee bean at the last possible moment.

Brew Only What You Need

This is self explanatory but freshly roasted and brewed coffee tastes best as soon as possible after brewing, ideally within 2 -2 1/2 hours . The easiest way to monitor is by putting a small magnetic timer right on the brewing device.
